Drafting

Shop Drawings

My experience in this field began with the manual (hand) drafting of cabinet shop drawings for a residential construction company.

These are drawings that the manufacturing shop would use to fabricate and assemble casework units. I have produced shop drawings for both residential and institutional projects.

Plan Sets

Later, I would work on drawing and revising architectural plans, sections, and details for a new medical campus consisting of 3 main buildings.

CAD experience was gained while learning + using AutoCAD v9 (1993) on the job. I was able to develop proficiency with all AutoDesk AutoCAD versions up until 2009.

It was in 2009 that I was first introduced to Building Information Modeling (BIM) with AutoDesk Revit and used it for several conceptual projects.

Blueprint literacy is the ability to read + understand construction documents.

This includes deciphering plan sets and the cross-referencing of Project Spec Books.
